The political circus came to Iowa last week, and anyone captivated by “govertainment” couldn’t help but be amused. Mitt Romney told a prospective voter “Corporations are people, my friend,” right out loud with the cameras rolling. Tim Pawlenty mocked Michele Bachmann’s Dim Bulb Bill, (also known as the Light Bulb Choice Act) as her grandest legislative accomplishment. Rand Paul challenged the Romney clan to a baseball game with a plastic ball. There was fried butter — no peas. And Sarah Palin showed up. (No one knows why.) But while we focused on the spectacle, scurrying around the periphery like rats in the Iowa corn, were men and women looking to advance their own dark agendas, like the pastor of Waukee’s Point of Grace Church, Jeff Mullen.
