We all know about the tragic deaths of the students and teachers in Newtown, CT. It was called by some news outlets one of the deadliest massacres in recent history. We also know the sickest element of the story: the fact that most of those killed were children, small, elementary school-aged children. The shooting did something else as well, though. It finally opened a real discussion on gun control.
It is a damn shame that it took such a horrific tragedy to start this conversation, but starting it is, as gun control groups everywhere are putting pressure on politicians to fight for tougher gun laws.
